In 2018, Van Dijk finished Afgrond zonder vangnet, a monograph on the oeuvre of the Dutch second generation author Arnon Grunberg. Building on her publications on affect, ecology and media in the work of Astrid Roemer, Boelie van Leeuwen or Cola Debrot, she places the texts in their comparative Caribbean context, demonstrating how structures of signification in these novels may be understood against the backdrop of Caribbean Theory such as Édouard Glissant. Van Dijks next book project Media and Memory in the Dutch Caribbean Novel is planned for 2022. ![]() In 2020, she works on a collaborative project with the Surinam National Archive en the Literature Museum on an on- and offline exposition on the work of six Surinamese authors.īefore her chair in Leiden, Van Dijk worked in Paris (2000-2004), and at the University of Amsterdam (2006-2013) and was a visiting scholar at UCSD in 2010, studying digital communities for the HERA-project ELMCIP. Studying Caribbean narrative and identity from a postcolonial persective, she looks specifically at ways in which Cultural Memory and Critique is produced in these different objects. ![]() Since 2016, the focus of Yra van Dijk in teaching and publications is on Dutch Caribbean Art, Media and Literature.
